Niyaz Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 4, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Niyaz – Spiritual Journal mobile application handles personal information and device data. Niyaz is designed to operate primarily on-device, without requiring a user account, and to minimize data collection.

1. User accounts

Niyaz does not create user accounts and does not require users to sign in with a name, email address, phone number, or password.

OAuth authentication used with Quran Foundation is strictly server-to-server authentication between Niyaz infrastructure and Quran Foundation services. It is not a user login or user account.

2. Location data

Niyaz may optionally access approximate or precise device location to calculate prayer times. Users may choose manual location instead of Phone Location.

When Phone Location is enabled and the user grants the required permissions, Android may notify Niyaz of a significant location change while the app is not in use. Niyaz may then update prayer times and future prayer notifications for the new location.

Niyaz does not continuously track GPS location, does not create a route history, and does not store location history on Niyaz servers. Prayer time calculations are performed on the device.

Phone location or precise GPS coordinates are not sent to the Quran audio service.

3. Quran audio

When a user uses the Quran audio feature, the content request required for the selected chapter or verse is sent over a secure HTTPS connection to the Niyaz server-side audio service.

The request is processed only to provide the Quran audio content and timing information requested by the user. Location data, prayer history, personal prayer text, and user account information are not sent to this service.

Quran audio requests are not used to create user profiles, serve advertising, or perform behavioral analytics.

For security and abuse prevention, the service may temporarily process technical network information such as an IP address. This information is not used to build a persistent user profile. Default persistent storage of Cloud Run request logs for the Niyaz Quran audio service has been disabled.

Quran audio and Quran-related data may be provided through Quran Foundation services. Quran Foundation API credentials are stored only on the server and are not embedded in the mobile application.

Quran data provided by Quran Foundation.

4. Temporary offline audio

In supported or testing versions where Quran audio is enabled, users may temporarily download selected audio content to their device. Temporary audio retention is limited to a maximum of 7 days.

Long-term or permanent offline Quran audio storage is currently disabled.

5. App interactions

When Quran audio is used, necessary app interactions such as the selected chapter or verse may be transmitted temporarily to the Niyaz audio service in order to provide the requested content.

These interactions are not used for advertising, marketing, personalization, or user profiling.

6. Data stored locally

Niyaz may store application preferences, selected manual location, worship records, dhikr information, Quran reading position, bookmarks, and notification settings locally on the user's device.

Niyaz does not upload these records to a centralized Niyaz user account or Niyaz server.

Users may delete local records using Settings > Reset data.

7. Notifications

With user permission, Niyaz may use device notifications for prayer times and other local reminders. Notification scheduling is performed on the device.

8. Analytics, advertising, and tracking

Niyaz currently does not use AdMob, third-party advertising networks, behavioral advertising, or third-party user behavior analytics.

Niyaz does not track users across other apps or websites and does not sell personal data for advertising purposes.

9. Hadith and Quran content

Niyaz may include 2,150 Turkish HadeethEnc hadith records. Quran text and related content are provided from licensed or otherwise permitted data sources.

Verified Quran data provided by Quran Foundation may be used for Tajweed rendering. Tajweed is disabled by default and may be enabled by the user.

10. Diyanet content

Niyaz does not distribute Diyanet Elif-Ba text, images, or audio as part of the application.

The “Diyanet” option in the application refers only to a prayer time calculation method and does not indicate that Diyanet Elif-Ba content is included in the application.

11. Third-party services

The Quran audio feature may use a Niyaz backend hosted on Google Cloud Run and Quran Foundation services.

Only the minimum technical information required to provide the requested feature is sent to these services.

12. Data security

Supported network communications between Niyaz and its backend are encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.

Quran Foundation client credentials and secrets are not stored in the mobile application.

13. Children's privacy

Niyaz is not designed to intentionally collect personal information from children. The application does not create user accounts and does not request a child's name, email address, or phone number.

14. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when application features or data handling practices change. The current version will be published on this page.
